Finding a good wave in Portugal is the easy part. Finding someone to surf it with, at your level, who’s free when you are, not that easy. Most surfers we know end up going alone more than they'd like.
This is our attempt to fix that.
Maybe you just moved here. Maybe no one in your circle surfs, or they do but not at your level. You're fine going out alone once in a while, but it's different when there's someone to share it with. Someone you can text when the forecast looks good, who pushes you to paddle for the ones you'd normally let go, who you can share tips with.
Every month, we introduce you to a new surfer. Some people become your regular surf partner. Others you’ll surf with a few times. Either way, your surf crew grows.

How it works
Three steps

Tell us how you surf
A short questionnaire. Your level, your spots, when you're usually in the water, what you're after. Takes about three minutes, you can fill it in here.

We find your match
Once a month, we go through all the surfers in our community and make a considered call. When we find a good fit, we introduce you both by email.
03
Go surf together
The rest is up to you. All you have to do is connect, check Surfline and head out there.
The matching
What we look at & why it matters
We look at surf level, your regular spots, when you tend to surf, and how often. The more overlap there is between two people, the better the match. It doesn't always line up perfectly, but we find the best fit we can.

Someone at your level
Surfing with someone significantly better or worse than you changes the dynamic of a session in ways that rarely work out well for either person. We match on level first, everything else second.

Same spots
We match on the same home breaks. No point connecting two people who live two hours apart and would never actually meet up.

When you surf
Dawn patrol or weekend afternoons - we match on when you’re usually in the water so there’s a reasonable chance you’re both free at the same time.
We're currently matching surfers across Portugal: Lisbon, Ericeira, Peniche, the Alentejo coast, Porto and beyond. Not seeing your area? Sign up anyway. You'll be first in line when we get there.

While we’re running this beta version, Twin Fin is completely free. No card required, no hidden tiers. We'll be upfront when that changes, and beta members will get first access to any early-member pricing.

We only share your details with your confirmed match, when we introduce you both. We don’t use it for marketing. Ever.

Twin Fin members are real surfers who've signed up to find someone to share the water with - same as you. Like any first meeting, you'll probably exchange a few messages beforehand and take it from there. We'd suggest a popular break for the first session. Yes. If you'd prefer to be matched with someone of the same gender, you can select this in the sign-up form and we'll always respect it.

We're growing, which means some areas have more members than others. Matches will depend on who's in your area. If we can't find a good fit for you yet, you'll be first in line as the community grows. If your area isn't on the list, sign up and select Other or drop us a message at hello@twinfinsocial.com and we'll add it.

That's what beta is for - we want to know. You can leave feedback after each match, and we use it to improve the algorithm. No obligation to surf with someone who isn't the right fit.
